	Name: [AU]Mihael Keehl Aliases: Mello / Erald Coil Age: 21 Gender: Male Brand: Sun Room: 213 Personality: Mello has an unpredictable and often violent temper, unwilling to place his trust in strangers or, frankly, anybody but a very select few. Prone to going without sleep and only napping at most, Mello is always alert and always eating chocolate. He's very intelligent, but also very brash when he becomes emotional about something, more likely and willing to 'shoot first and ask questions later' than anything else. That being said, Mello can also be quite a convincing and bold leader if he so chooses to be: there's something about his unwavering passion and determination to win that can really inspire people when it's properly applied. He is more mellow than other versions of himself, seasoned by more than 6 years experience as world-class detective Erald Coil. History: When Rem wrote Watari and L's true names in her Death Note, Kira thought that he had given the great detective the slip and would be free. When L did not die, however, he found himself to have been terribly wrong. L, having written his own name in the Death Note, was able to determine without a shadow of a doubt that Light Yagami was, in fact, Kira. However, despite his great sacrifice for such cold, hard proof, Kira ended up merely executed by his own shinigami, and in his remaining 23 days L was left to destroy the Death Notes, put his affairs in order, and die alone in a hotel room in Japan. One of the affairs to be handled in his final 23 days was the matter of succession... and back at Wammy's House, Mello and Near were called into Roger's office to receive word of L's choice: to give the title of L to Mello and Near both, because they were more capable and formidable when they worked together as one. Had L been there to say those words in person, Mello might have listened to his respected idol, taken his words and reasonings to heart, and accepted the arrangement. However, faced only with an announcement that came with no helpful explanation of L's motives, Roger's stern expression and Near's bland agreement, Mello could only have objected. Hurt and angry that L didn't think that the choice of succession warranted any more than a simple, second-hand message home, Mello refused the title of L, instead declaring that he would take the title of Erald Coil and compete with the new L -Near- to be the greatest detective in the world. Because it was a portion of L's title, Mello was entitled to a portion of L's fortune and he immediately left Wammy's House and set-up headquarters in America, determined to solve the most dangerous and compelling cases and eventually surpass L in skill and reputation. Mello and Near began work as separate, world-class detectives, Mello taking on ever more difficult and challenging cases. On his 16th birthday he managed to legitimately surpass Deneuve, one of Near's other aliases, and took second place once more- first and third place both belonging to Near. As time passed Mello became more and more hands-on than either the previous L or the current one had ever dared to be, personally running as well as participating in undercover operations when he was hired by the US Government to dismantle a massive mafia-run drug operation working out of a hub in southern California. Mello was a breath away from surpassing the title of L, assured that the successful completion of this case would mean the official placement of Erald Coil as the world's leading detective... However, the entire operation went critically awry. Mello was exposed by a treacherous subordinate and, effectively cornered and without allies, he was left with no option but to detonate the building and pray. Mello barely escaped with his life: badly burned, delirious and alone, he stumbled out onto the dark streets, fumbled for his cell-phone and dialed the only number he could given the circumstances. A few days later Mello awoke in Winchester, badly burned and heavily medicated... but alive. He had phoned Roger for support with the clear stipulation that Near not be contacted in the matter, but Roger's choice to contact the third-in-line, Matt, did not help things either: Matt had been working as a subordinate under Near on a recent hacking case, and it was inevitable in this sort of situation that Near would find out what had happened and come to his aide. Mello had tasted defeat where he had only expected victory, losing his footing as Erald Coil barely a week before his 20th birthday and ending up shamefully placed in third once more, beneath Deneuve and L. He expected Near to gloat over his victory, or at least accept it as blandly as ever, but Mello found himself unexpectedly greeted by Near's obvious concern. Near never had the opportunity to once more offer Mello the shared title of L- it would have been counterproductive to his eventual decision, after all. Mello merely announced his choice, as if it were a demand, and received no dissension. On his 20th birthday, Mello took up the title of L alongside Near. The two had only just received their first joint case when Mello was taken by the Ringmaster on New Years Eve.
